Society of Orthodox Youth Organization

SOYO stands for Society of Orthodox Youth Organization. It is a nationwide youth program for Antiochian Orthodox teens. We do a lot of things throughout the year, including humanitarian, social, and fundraising activities. So far this year we have done a collection for the Special Olympics held at the Antiochian Village in Pennsylvania. A few of our members also danced Middle Eastern-style at the St. George Middle Eastern Festival. A few of our upcoming events are a soup lunch on November 23 as a fundraiser for Fr.Alban's discretionary fund, which goes to families in the community in need. We also plan to go on a ski trip, go Christmas caroling, have a bake sale on December 21, and have a Pan-Orthodox party on January 17. Our most important activity within the next few months is our Community Christmas Card. This is our largest fundraiser. Families pay to get their names written in the card, and around Christmas time it goes out to the whole community. We encourage the entire parish to sign up for the Christmas card. Remember, it is for a good cause: supporting the youth, who are the future of the community.

All in all, the SOYO is a great group to be involved in. All of the members get along really well and it's always good to know that there are young people with the same beliefs who also have other things in common. We encourage all young people between the ages of 13 and 18 and get involved. We could always use more members, and we guarantee you will have a great time.
