Parish Archives

we are starting to compile a parish archives of photos, documents, news clippings, and any other items of historic interest. It is our intention to put as much of this material as possible on this website. To start things off I am going to put up some examples of the sorts of things we have in our collection, but as time goes on this part of the site should grow considerably, so check back from time to time to see what has been added.

News Clippigs

Thanks to Bill and Margaret Bitar

A nice collection of news clippings from over the years including visits from the Metropolitain, and Middle East Festivals. There are more of these to come, so keep an eye on this.

An interesting article on the consecration of Raphael Hawaweeny(now Saint Raphael) as the first Orthodox bishop consecrated in America. He was Syrian, and an example of holiness to all. His relics reside at Antiochian Village.

Would you like to help?

To help make these archives a rich and wonderful resource there are some things that I need.

  1. More material. It would be better off in these archives than in a dusty old drawer or photo album.
  2. Help with scanning and organizing. Whereas I want more items, I still need help with the items already collected.
  3. Biographical information. I would really love to see a resource of biographies of the founders of the parish and any other priests, deacons, choir masters, chanters, cooks, cleaners, singers, sunday school teachers, and pew warmers (I hope that covers everone) from years gone by.

If you can help in any way, please contact me, Athanasius Blalock at natius@bbdigital.net.
