Our Worship

For the Orthodox worship is our "earthly heaven" where we are united with God, and where he "inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3)."

In our worship we celebrate Jesus Christ who, as God, brought heaven to earth when he became man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The objective of our worship is the sanctification of the entire world.

Many books have been written and many lifetimes have been spent studying this subject, but the best way to begin and end is to follow the invitation of the Psalmist who wrote, "Taste and see that the Lord is good." It has often been said that is you want to know what the Orthodox believe, come and see how they worship. Jesus said that the true worshipers of God will worship Him in spirit and in truth. There is nothing intended to be of entertainment value in Orthodox worship. The hymns and chants follow an ancient pattern that is intended to convey the truth that is contained in the words to the ears of the worshipers.
