Missions and Evangelism Resources
he mission work being done throughout the world by the Orthodox Church is vast
and varied and be cannot possibly given its just due in a parish Website of this size.
There is a notion among some people that the Orthodox do not evangelize. This is
obviously not true. How else would the whole world be filled with the faith. This page
offers a few examples of the missionary outreach of the Orthodox.
The Antiochian Department of Missions and Evangelism
http://www.antiochian.org/missions
The Department of Missions and Evangelism was established in 1988 to "Make America
Orthodox," in the words of His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP. To fulfill that dream, the
department endeavors to: 1) build new missions in North American cities of over 100,000
population which have no Orthodox Church of any jurisdiction; 2) respond to invitations
of lay groups of Orthodox Christians who desire an English-speaking parish; 3) cultivate
relationships with independent (generally Protestant) communities which desire to become
Orthodox; 4) work with non-Orthodox pastors who desire to become Orthodox; 5) cooperate
with College Ministry to develop mission parishes adjacent to major college campuses with
no English-speaking Orthodox Church nearby; and 6) train and encourage Antiochian
Orthodox priests and lay leaders to promote Orthodox Christian evangelism in their
communities and begin new missions in nearby localities.
Orthodox Christian Mission Center

Mission Statement
To help fulfill the Great Commission of Christ(Matthew 28:16); the Orthodox Christian
Mission Center(OCMC) strives to establish vibrant Eucharistic communities throughout the
world, to develop and support indigenous church leaders, and to strengthen the
infrastructure of their churches. OCMC carries out this work primarily, though not
solely, in countries where Christianity is in the minority and where the Gospel message
has not been proclaimed. OCMC will recruit, train, send, and support Orthodox
missionaries to preach, teach, baptize, construct, and minister to the spiritual and
physical needs of those being served and saved.
Purpose
OCMC has been sanctioned by SCOBA
to help the faithful of North America to proclaim the fullness of the
Orthodox Christian Faith with the world. Each year hundred of Orthodox
Christians answer the call to make disciples of all nations.
International Orthodox Christian Charities
http://www.iocc.org/
IOCC, in the spirit of Christ's love, offers emergency relief and
development programs to those in need worldwide, without
discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to
so respond.
VISION
We envision that, by God's grace, IOCC will
respond, without discrimination, to those who are suffering and in
need, to enable them to continue to improve their own lives and
communities and to have means to live with dignity, respect and hope.
